The Redesign: Part 1
About two months ago, I decided to redesign the movie log . I thought it fitting since the site was nearing both its one-year anniversary and its 500-review milestone, but unfortunately this, like most of my projects, quickly ballooned into something much larger.
While I was prepping for the redesign I got a great idea for my main site, www.frankshowalter.com. Previously this had been home to “Bad Words,” my writing blog, but since I link to it via the copy write at the bottom of each page of the movie log, I wanted it be a bit more general. I had this vision of a “table of contents” for my various web sites, with a little description of each and a list of the recent posts.
Thus, I moved “Bad Words” to a subdirectory, and set about building my new central site.
Next, I’ll talk about how I built www.frankshowalter.com, and how I came to create two additional sites in the process, all before I got to the movie log.
